Get ready for the boom, Edmonton! Sonic 102.9 and The Union are pleased to present the inaugural edition of SONIC BOOM, Edmontons Modern Rock Festival, set to take place (rain or shine) on Saturday September 5, 2009 on the grounds of Northlands in Edmonton AB. General admission and limited VIP tickets go on sale Friday July 17th at 10 AM at UnionEvents.com and Ticketmaster.

Edmonton has long enjoyed the reputation as The Festival City, with many remarkable and world-renowned events taking place throughout the year. Yet the City of Champions has never had a huge annual rock show that it could claim as its own. Until now.

SONIC BOOM is the result of two years of planning, negotiating and dreaming, with the aim of giving Edmonton its own world-class celebration of cutting edge rock music, with Canadas finest sharing the stage with unique international talent.

With a wide range of musical styles from the hard anthems of Billy Talent and Alexisonfire to the sophisticated pop groove of Franz Ferdinand and Metric SONIC BOOM was designed from the beginning to reflect the eclectic tastes and boundless energy of Edmonton.

SONIC BOOM has made the effort to uphold Edmontons charitable and ecological character. Volunteers for local charities will be running SONIC BOOMs recycling stations on site, while fresh water stations will also be available for people to refill through the day.

For those who are looking for a more exclusive experience, SONIC BOOM will also offer a limited number of VIP passes. These coveted tickets priced at $102.90 (plus service charge) will give holders a souvenir laminate, an exclusive area with bar service and amenities, plus special access to the show and much more.
