Candace hopes to reschedule and make a return visit to Canada when her next book, The Carrie Diaries, is released in April 2010.
HOSTED BY Citytv’s Riaz Megjhi and Dawn Chubai
Critically acclaimed, international best selling author, radio host and cultural commentator Candace Bushnell will be making three exclusive appearances in Canada through January 2010, with a special Q&A built around the theme of Sex, Success and Sensibility. Beginning in Calgary on January 21, Bushnell will also visit The Centre In Vancouver for Performing Arts on January 22, and Torontos Queen Elizabeth Theatre on January 23.
Bushnell shot into the spotlight when her first book, Sex and the City, became the basis for the HBO hit series and subsequent blockbuster movie. Her fourth novel, Lipstick Jungle, became a popular television series on NBC. Bushnells novels include Four Blondes (2000), Trading Up (2003), Lipstick Jungle (2005), and her most recent bestseller, One Fifth Avenue (2008). From Sex and the City through her four successive novels, Manhattan resident Bushnell has revealed a gift for tapping into the zeitgeist of any New York minute. With each book, she has deepened her range, but with a light touch that makes her complex literary accomplishments look easy. As The Guardian Newspaper has pointed out, Bushnells writing cuts through the lies that women tell themselves about the surface equality of Western society.
From October 2006 to October 2008, Bushnell hosted a radio show on Sirus Satellite Radio, called Sex, Success and Sensibility (from which she took the name of her current live Q&A). She is currently at work on two young adult novels, including The Carrie Diaries, which will explore the life of Carrie Bradshaw during her teenage years in New York.
Through her books and television series, Bushnells work has influenced and defined two generations of women. She is the winner of the 2006 Matrix Award for books (other winners include Joan Didion and Amy Tan), and a recipient of the Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award.
