If Sublime and No Doubt had an illegitimate lovechild, it would be named illScarlett. With fist pumping punk/pop/reggae jams the Mississisauga natives just released 1UP!, the follow up to their 2007 gold sell-ing release All Day With It.
1UP! was recorded in Los Angeles with multi Grammy Award winning producer Robert Carranza (Jack Johnson, Mars Volta, Beastie Boys, Bjork) at Jack Johnson’s Solar Powered Plastic Plant studio. Co-produced by the band, 1UP! marks a return to illScarletts reggae influenced roots as experienced on their EPdemic release.
illScarletts hardcore DIY Ethic worked as an effective tool to get the band noticed from the get go. Using old school methods (tirelessly touring) and new technologies (myspace, youtube, etc.) to initiate the groundswell illScarlett manufactured a solid fan base. The story goes that a few years ago, they pulled into the Warped Tour parking lot, fired up a generator and started playing for the people lined up for the concert with the hopes of selling some of the bands independent, self financed EPs . This got the atten-tion of Warped founder Kevin Lymon, who invited them to play his nightly post-show party. They killed it, have been guests of the warped tour ever since, had numerous successful tours on their own, and wed like to say the rest is history.
illScarlett will be joined by Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, also known as USS. The Toronto native duo are musical chameleons, their sound is a mixture of drum and bass beats, grunge-like guitar riffs and 2-step rhythms.
