Filmmaker, author and actor Kevin Smith returns to Toronto for another legendary evening of unconven-tional stories about movies, life and everything else. Smith, best known for writing and directing such feature films as Clerks, Dogma and Chasing Amy, regularly appears live at major venues across the United States, Canada and the UK, but every appearance in Toronto has been among Smiths very best shows.
Smiths colorful and unchecked stage performance, entitled “An Evening with Kevin Smith”, provides an up close and personal look into the irreverent mind of the talented filmmaker and pop culture connoisseur. During his three-hour show Smith engages in an unreserved audience Q&A, a feature of his appearances that has gained cult status among his fans.
Smith, who has just wrapped up his next feature,”Cop Out” starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, has written and directed eight feature films, as well as several television pro-jects, including several episodes of “Degrassi: The Next Generation”. Smith has also released three DVDs of his various stage shows (“An Evening With Kevin Smith”, “An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder” which includes Smiths debut at Roy Thomson – and “A Threevening With Kevin Smith”).
Smith has also published two books of essays and blog postings (“Silent Bob Speaks” and the New York Times best seller “My Boring-Ass Life”), and written for major comic book giants DC (Batman, Green Arrow) and Marvel (Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Black Cat). In addition to filmmaking, Smith has occasion-ally moonlighted as an actor, appearing in Live Free Or Die Hard, also starring Bruce Willis, and Catch And Release, starring Jennifer Garner.
Smith is also an Internet fixture, with a highly active website (www.viewaskew.com) and one of the most popular Twitter feeds around (@thatkevinsmith).
