MBF is known for rallying the music community and bringing them together. To celebrate the release of his latest album in June, The MBF Love LP, he orchestrated a live show featuring over 120 local dancers, singers and musicians for an unforgettable night of musical entertainment.
His latest album The MBF Love LP, produced by Russell Broom (Jann Arden), breaks away from the pack with a refreshingly earnest and optimistic sound. Michaels distinctive soulful voice combined with original musical composition and thoughtful lyrics create a sound unique to MBF. From the energy-infused stomping beats on Brand New Spaces, to the adorable lyrics and simple yet ingenious piano melody on Care for You, to the use of the drum line in Reach You, each song is different yet memorable, with the signature MBF stamp all over it.
Its won him a local following which stands strong against any other Calgary act, and in addition to hometown fans, hes also gaining interest across the country. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts granted funding for a full-length recording, recorded in Nashville, and The Calgary Stampede awarded him first prize in the 2007 Youth Talent Search. In 2008, Michael won the X92.9 Xposure contest landing him a spot in Virginfest in Calgary two years running, and he also took the award for the most promising songwriter by the Calgary Folk Festival where he performed the last two years as well. He has toured across Canada, sharing a bill with the likes of Roz Bell, Jully Black, The Wallflowers, Stars, and Hedley, and it wont be long before new up-and-coming acts are gaining credit for sharing a bill with Michael Bernard Fitzgerald.
